My name is Pete Whellan. I was born in a country that technically doesn’t exist any more: Rhodesia (now known as Zimbabwe). I grew up between there and nearby Malawi, before finishing school in the UK, and finally relocating to Australia, where my parents had retired.
I acquired a Graduate Diploma in Transport Management through Sydney University and had a 15 year career in the transport industry in Australia before opting for a ‘seachange’, and working in the casino business for 9 years.
I arrived in Cambodia for the first time in 2010 and was immediately cast under the Kingdom’s spell, finally moving here in 2012. I have been teaching for over 3 years now and have been inspired by the students in this country; in general they are eager to learn, as well as being polite and respectful…and I learn a lot from them too! Hopefully I can repay that by helping them on their journey to English fluency.
