My name is Marika and I am a puppeteer and teacher from South Africa. I started teaching in 2008 when I did Puppetry and Drama workshops for the government. I also lectured at the University of Stellenbosch where I taught Acting and Puppetry. I worked professionally as a puppeteer since 2007 as well. I enjoy travelling, puppetry, experiencing new cultures, and art.
In 2012 I went to Xi’an, China for two years. I taught students aged 3 to 40 in various teaching environments. In 2014 I moved to Hong Kong where I taught group and individual classes to students aged 6 months old to 14. I learned a lot about early childhood development!
I’ve been in Cambodia since 2015. My impressions are that the students’ language proficiency is of a very high standard and their eagerness to learn and to embrace my creative teaching methods are wonderful. I’ve taught students from kindergarten to high school.
I find M.I.S. to be a positive working environment with both management and students being very supportive. I really enjoy teaching here because I have found a place where I can challenge both myself and my students.
